Episode #667: Interviews with Steve McGarry, Rick Stromoski, and Don Simpson – November 17, 2024

This week in Episode #667, it’s a great Zoop.gg crowdfunding doubleheader! Everything kicks off with Steve McGarry and Rick Stromoski from Mullets, then it all wraps up with Don Simpson with The Complete Megaton Man Universe Volume 1: The 1980s!

Steve McGarry and Rick Stromoski created Mullets, a weekly newspaper strip that is called “the funniest comic strip you never read!” This series is described this way: “They say write about what you know … so Steve McGarry and Rick Stromoski created a comic strip about two idiots. Collected for the first time, here are all 60 weeks of full-color dailies and Sundays of the short-lived, much-missed, syndicated newspaper strip Mullets” along with a special 12-page bonus sequel by Luke McGarry.” We discuss how this strip came to be, who the various characters are, and what we can expect from these creators in the months ahead! This campaign will conclude in the middle of December, but they need your support now! Be sure to go to this link after you listen to this episode!

Then be sure to listen to my fun interview with Don Simpson, creator of Megaton Man, which you can support at this link! This project met its goal in only four hours, but would still appreciate your support! Here’s the description: “Don Simpson created Megaton Man as a one-off superhero parody in 1982 at the age of 21, and swiftly grew his world into an entire universe of interconnected Bizarre Heroes characters that continues to spill onto pages and screens to this day.” Don tells us how this engaging series came to be, who the characters are, and what else he might have coming our way soon! Don’t miss it! This campaign will also conclude in mid-December, but don’t wait! Support it today!
