In Episode #653, we explore the Illuminatus! trilogy, written in the 1970s by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. It’s being adapted into Tales of Illuminatus, a new comic book series written and illustrated by New Jersey comic book writer and artist Bobby Campbell, who Wayne talks with this week, with the assistance of another comic artist, Todd Purse. This adaptation is being made with the permission of the estates of Wilson and Shea.

She Could Fly, the groundbreaking graphic novel, is a one-of-a-kind reading experience. And now that experimental graphic novel from Dark Horse Comics and Berger Books is a documentary escape game designed to challenge how we think about the deeply misunderstood mental illness, OCD. In Episode #651, Wayne talks with leader/co-designer Sara Kenney and co-producer Mairéad Ruane.  

They worked with a team of ‘Lived Experience’ experts to inform the content and create a global engagement campaign to shift how we think about OCD and mental health. Scientists, psychologists and medical humanities experts were part of the iterative design process, checking and commenting on scripts and game drafts for over two years. It’s described this way: “Combining comic art, documentary films and interactive gameplay, the She Could Fly Documentary Escape Gameis a point and click, psychological game from Wowbagger Productions that takes players on a looping adventure to explore OCD.” We discuss how this project came to be, who the characters are, and how you can access the book as well as the now-available game.
